We would like you to send to us by email a copy of your passport at least one month prior to your arrival for your voyage. The copy should show your details page and your photograph. Please also provide a passport size photograph. This allows us to process your visa and quick entry through Customs at Kawthoung. Please ensure that your passport does not expire within the next six months.
You will be issued with a 28 day visa for Myanmar. Please note that if you are joining a cruise in Mergui, travel from Kawthoung to northern parts of Myanmar is limited by a daily ferry and sporadic flights. Travel by road is not possible at this time.
Consider the option of a 12 nights/13 days voyage to Mergui and if you wish to extend your stay in Myanmar, disembarking in Mergui to travel to points further north eg. Yangon.
Cash:
Southern Myanmar does not have credit card or ATM facilities as it is a cash society. We recommend that you bring $USD or Thai Baht that can be exchanged through money changers in Kawthoung or Mergui only.
Our yachts carry a stock of trade goods such as chalk, paper, pencils, cigarettes and food which are available for passenger barter use at no charge.
Please note that consumer goods are only available in Kawthoung and Mergui. There is no opportunity to purchase goods in the Mergui Archipelago apart from seafood and local produce.
Luggage:
Our yachts are large and comfortable but will not accommodate huge amounts of luggage. If you have an onward destination separate your luggage and leave it at our offices in Ranong.
Your luggage should be soft case that can be compacted for easy storage.
Please note our yachts are fully stocked with linen, towels and beach towels.
Communications:
Thailand mobile telephones do operate in Kawthoung (4km from Ranong, Thailand) however they only operate within a 10km radius. We find that #123 Call provides good coverage and costs $US10 for a sim card anywhere in Thailand.
If passengers wish to receive calls whilst sailing, contact should be made to Christine in our Ranong office in the first instant.
Travel Insurance:
We recommend that you obtain travel insurance with a medic evacuation clause because of isolation of the area and as there is an inherent risk in activities like sailing we require passengers to have a holiday insurance covering the activities and sports they intend to undertake.
